My Mom…

When I grew up, my mom would share her nursing stories every evening around the dinner table.  I was fascinated by her dedication, care and love for her patients.  I always wanted to be just like her…

My mom gifted me with a precious tile on my bridal shower with the following verse written on it:  “Never stop dreaming”… and that became one of my life motto’s.

 

My Family…

I saw my husband the first time in eighth grade, and I am even more in love after 30 years of marriage. We have two beautiful daughters following their dreams after wonderful years of home schooling.  

 

Because of them and their continued encouragement, my journey began…

 

Me…

With a passion for all things beautiful, Yophy was the perfect name for  my business…

Yophy Beauty was opened in 2007 and has been part of my journey ever since...

 

I finished my International Aesthetic Diploma at Elizabeth Beauty School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

I became very hungry for, and quite addicted to training.  

 

My next step was a contract with Steiner, known for their reputation  for developing you as a six star therapist.

Working alongside international therapists, being provided with the highest standard of training in all areas of business and therapy, we traveled right around the world. 

 

Back on land again, I was asked to join a well known spa on the island of Mauritius to consult them on uplifting their standards and practises. This was the beginning of consulting spas on layout, treatments and overall finer touch in order to provide a five star service.

 

Once more the ocean called me back for a short contract to ‘sail’ between the Greek Islands.

 

In between Yophy Beauty was always open when I was home.

Much to my clients benefit, I always brought back something from my trips to contribute to my salon or my treatments.

 

My two areas of expertise developed in facials and my specialised pedicures.

I developed a pedicure treatment especially for the South African feet which not only smooth and beautify the feet, but also equip clients to keep it up.

 

I never stopped training and also never missed the Beauty Expo’s with all their seminars, new products, reps on site, and socialising with others in the Beauty Industry.

In my hometown I met a kindred spirit, and together we learned a lot from each other.  We started a wonderful concept, “Karoo Spa”, which were prestige Spa days, having five therapists working together, including one of the local ladies I trained, and my husband to prepare the food.

 

But…

 

I still wanted more…

The next course this time was nothing to do with products or treatments, I wanted to be able to teach other therapists to have a love for what they do, so I did a facilitating course in beauty education.

 

After a lot of research, my next trip was to the exotic island of Bali to complete two diplomas in Spa Management at the highly accredited International Spa School, Bali Bisa.  That was really hard work, together with loads of fun, with the result being Student of the Year.

 

We immigrated to New Zealand in 2016 and I was privileged to start my NZ career in a beautiful salon in Tauranga.

 

Yophy Beauty opened in New Zealand, Springtime 2018…

 

Absolutely in love with the New Zealand countryside, we travel up and down the two islands to keep up with Continuous Professional Development and a few new certifications. 

My latest travels took me across the Tasman to Australia for a very specialised Brow Course. 

Somewhere in future I would love to travel to one of my favourite countries, Canada, attending the North American School of Podology, to qualify as a Master Pedicurist. 

 

Late 2018, I was very pleased to introduce my two wonderful Facial Brands, (Dermaviduals & Janesce, both with their very high standards of quality and training),  together with the Exceed Micro-needling device, (TGA class 2b medical; FDA class 2; CE & ISO certifications), into my salon.

My whole family, my mom, my two dads, my children and especially my husband was part of my team throughout the years and without them none of this would have been possible for me.

 

I also have a deep love for the Lord Jesus and I trust to carry out His love every day to every person I touch.  Without Him I would have no love to share.
